am a 48 year old woman with a history of heavy periods for about the last 5 years.
Last May/June I had severe bleeding with clotting that went on for almost a month.
I sought medical help at that time and had an ultra-sound which detected several fibroid tumours.
My last couple of cycles have been heavy but normal for me and relatively pain free.
I saw a gynocologist in July who did a pap test and told me to come back in a couple of months.
I was sure at that time he told me that on my next appointment he was going to take a tissue sample to test further for cancer.
I saw him again yesterday and my pap test had not come back and when I asked him about doing the other test he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about.
Now he has me scheduled for a endometrial ablation in early November and I guess my question is:
Should this be done when all other causes have not been ruled out? ie: cancer...
How safe is this procedure... ie: he is going to have me under general anethetic during the surgery...
Is there anyone out there who has had good results / bad results regarding this procedure? If you had to do it again would you?
Why would he not be prescibing Uterine Fibroid Embolization - if fibroids are the cause of my problem?
Thank you - Bryn in Vancouver, Canada
