Hi Kim, a colonoscopy might not be a bad idea at age 40. I tend to think all your pain is from your fibroid uterus though. Vaginal discharge does not usually cause pelvic pain. No, fibroids do not go away with exercise, proper diet, or relaxation. It's usually genetic makeup. Nothing takes fibroids away except surgical excision. Since they are small fibroids, you could have them taken off your uterus surgically, or, since you are not planning on any children, you could just have the entire uterus taken out to spare you any other problems in the future. At your age, I would NOT have the ovaries removed, since they seem to be normal. Or at the least, preserve one ovary. You cannot do an exam yourself to feel your fibroids. Only a gyn doctor can perform this. If your fibroids were HUGE, they might be felt through the abdomen, but yours aren't even near that size. Laparoscopic surgery is done with 3 very tiny incisions, called "belly button surgery"...a telescope is put into the bellybutton so the doctor can see the entire pelvis. He does his work through the other 2 tiny incisions with long instruments. On your search engine, type in Laparoscopic Hysterectomy, and you should be able to get a bunch of info.....Feel free to ask any other questions...hope this helped....Kim

Thank you very much for your information. I do not have a lot of bleeding. I had one May 27 w/ medium bleeding, and 28 days after I have another bleeding for at least a week. This bleeding was considered heavy than May 27. It was painful, headache, and a lot of blood clots, and dark blood. So, after that I do not have bleeding until September 13, 2006. This time the bleeding was light, and used thin pad. It aslo last for a week. This time I got so headache, back pain, and lower back pain.
My ultrasound took place in 5/2006 which uterus measures 8.9 x 5.9 x3.7 cm. They concluded two intramural leiomyomas are seem in the left mid and interior anterior uterine corpus measuring 3.7 x 3.4 x2.6 cn, and 2.5 x2.2 x 2 cm the smaller and more inferior myoma respectively. The ovaries are well seem and no ovarian cysts are noted. I just wanted to know is this normal in size? is this a uteris fibriod?
Finaly, I saw doctor yesterday, and complainted to him that I have paint and uncomfortable recently. He checked me and told me that my fibriod is still in the same size 150? I asked him do I need surgery. He refered me to colonscopy before he make decision on this.
Actualy, I am not planning to have any children at all. The big concern that I have in my mind such as what's a best choice on this? how long is it take for surgery? does fibriod is getting bigger in size if I don't remove it sooner? does it effect yourlife after surgery such as moody, personality etc..?
Also, I have cyst in my breast but the doctor already drained it out. it looks like milk cream.....

Hi Kimn...yes I agree you are tired because of your low iron....you should eat more iron rich foods, and/or take an iron pill every day...the iron pill which I recommend is called SLOW FE...it's over the counter....it won't make you nauseated or cause upset stomach like most iron pills do.....you didn't say how heavy your periods were....do you have severe heavy bleeding with clots?....or is it medium flow?......about the fibroid, it is probably 150 kilograms (kg)....your doctor can tell by a pelvic exam, he can feel it...also, an ultrasound can tell.....fibroids can be taken off the uterus through the scope, called a laparoscopic myomectomy....are you planning any children?...if not, you may opt for just a laparoscopic hysterectomy.....I work with a very skilled advanced laparoscopic gyn surgeon, and we take out fibroids, even LARGE fibroids through the scope alot....he does total laparoscopic hysterectomies also, even on LARGE uteri....he NEVER does open abdominal hysterectomies....there is more bleeding, more pain, and longer recuperation time....if you do decide on surgery, see if your gyn doctor has the qualifications to perform through the laparoscope (belly button incision).....hope this helped....Kim, RN, BSN, gyn team leader, surgical nurse.

I have an uteries fibroid since last year. I have an ultra sound a couple of months ago, and they said, it's normal in the size. I have an irregular period since I was 34 or less... now I am 39 years old. Before, I don't have period every 2 months or every month. Last two year, my period comes every 90 days for either 4-5 days bleeding. I was so headade, tired etc..
I saw my doctor two weeks ago, and he told me that my fibroid is getting bigging to 150mg?? I asked him is there any other way that I can do to get rid of my fibroid etc... he sent me to the lab for blood test. it read red cell count 3.69 out of the range 3.80-5.10 & chemistry transerrin satu is 13.
I am no so sure are red cell & Iron count effect my health? I was so tired, no energy, I have back pain, lower, and thigh pain for the past two weeks. It wakes me up around 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning. I feel unconfortable every day, and worry what if my fibriod is getting bigger so how does my current doctor know etc.. please help.
Can someone advise me what/how I should do? I am going to see my doctor this late afternoon. I need to know what I should ask or should I need to see another doctor?
I'm 39 years old now, single, and not child. I am vegetarian
Do you think I was tired b/c my iron is low? so do I need to eat food that has iron??
Thank you very for your help...
